Titans Battle. HP TouchPad VS Apple iPad, Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook.

Comparing of pads HP TouchPad, Apple iPad, Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry PlayBook.

Promptly growing tablet market  causes many questions. And  here is HP answer  to it’s calls.
Our object is new pad HP TouchPad.  We will compare characteristics of this device with three most noticeable competitors and  also we will draw outputs  and give you some advice.

Titans Battle.

Each device has various operating system.  It is  webOS 3.0 for HP TouchPad, iOS 4.2.1  is for iPad, Android 3.0 is for Motorola Xoom, and BB Tablet OS (QNX) is for BlackBerry PlayBook. It can be very important, because the platform defines a potential functional of the device, but on the given point there is no benefited or lost pads. It is necessary to note, however, that Android  is a bit more popular and has more possibilities for improving.

The processor defines productivity of the device in games and applications and also in other operations requiring resources. HP TouchPad  involves dual core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060.
1GHz Apple A4 in a combination with PowerVR SGX 535 GPU is applied in iPad, NVIDIA Tegra 2 with frequency 1 GHz is in Xoom , and 2х1 GHz Cortex-A9 is in PlayBook. All processors answer to modern requirements.

Now, about displays. In TouchPad, as well as in iPad, a 9.7-inch display with resolution 1024х768 (4:3) is used. In Xoom there is a 10.1-inch monster on 1280х800 points, and it is really enormous resolution for a tablet.  A compact 7-inch screen on 1024х600 points is installed in BlackBerry device. There are minuses in all cases of displays, and there are pluses too, but on the average their quality is good enough. So this parameter doesn’t  influence results of competitions.

In aspect of a random access memory 3 devices from 4 can compete with any netbook: 1 Gb RAM will be enough for everything. Apple iPad became an ugly exception with its 256 MB.

The storage volume varies depending on the specific model selected by you. HP TouchPad  is delivered with 16/32 Gb, BlackBerry PlayBook and Apples iPad can carry 16/32/64 Gb onboard. But  Motorola Xoom  doesn't give a choice, 32 Gb – is a rigid fixed value.
Photo-video possibilities differ strongly. So, there is no ' eye ' in  iPad. And HP child has only frontal 1.3 MT for video calls. BlackBerry PlayBook (3 and 5 Mp, front/back) and Xoom (2 and 5 Mp) pleasantly differ on such background. Both devices can write down high-grade video HD Ready.

Communication possibilities can touch everyone. All pads support BlueTooth (though it is not 3.0) and 802.11n -  the last modification of WiFi.
All models have a built in accelerometer, but Apple iPad and BlackBerry PlayBook users  should do without the preinstalled gyroscope.
Accumulators of all devices answer to  minimal requirements. However, there is no exact data about Xoom, and the most long-lasting accumulator was caught by iPad.
Weight characteristics don’t differ strongly, but PlayBook from BlackBerry is the lightest.

Well, and the last characteristic - dialogue possibility. 3G and 4G are supported in TouchPad and PlayBook, the Apple iPad supports UMTS/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE, and it can be suffered, basically. And  Motorola Xoom offers only hardly applicable in our corner of the world EVDO unit Rev.A. It is an explicit loss.

Well, and so what we have? HP TouchPad, Apple iPad, Motorola Xoom, BlackBerry PlayBook are modern devices fulfilling their principal function - access to a multimedia content and the Internet. What to select –you should decide yourself. The most compact and easy device is BlackBerry PlayBook, but usage convenience of all 4 participants of comparing are approximately identical. Last, and, probably, quite important index is the price.

We recommend  you  to be guided by it, because  the functional of devices differs not strongly.
